Flowering Quince

in March,
their twiggy clusters
thrust sweet blossoms out
to remind us of spring

and each time our delighted eyes
see their salmon centers
bursting somewhere,
it's a new excitement

like contest winners
we shout
"Flowering Quince!"
the sighting,
our reward.
