Flowering Quince

in March,
their twiggy clusters
thrust sweet blossoms out
to remind us of spring

and each time our delighted eyes
see their salmon centers
bursting somewhere,
it's a new excitement

like contest winners
we shout
"Flowering Quince!"
the sighting,
our reward.

Quince and Forsythia along with the return of the song birds are the harbingers of Spring for sure. It gives us renewed hope after the dead of winter. ~m
